Cheryl Buckmaster is a Canadian artist drawn to art creation that sparks a notion and realization of individual and collective change.
I acknowledge my life, along with the beginnings of my parents and their parents, is based on Treaty 6 Territory that was promised to the Nêhiyawak (Cree), Nahkawe (Saulteaux), Oceti Sakowin(Dakota, Nakota, Lakota) and Metis peoples. My ancestors are generally from Normandy, France and my family now lives in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Alberta, and Northwest Territories. I am grateful to be a visitor on, and connect in, this beautiful land. I am honoured to be in the presence of First Nations and Métis Peoples and welcome the humility I need to walk respectfully here.
THANK YOU to the University of Saskatchewan, School of Environment and Sustainability, Whitecap Dakota Government, Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre Company, Saskatchewan Arts Board, Tribe Inc., Action Group of Companies, and valued private patrons.
